After a brave battle David Edward Ziegler, (Dave) age of 65 of Troy, passed away Wednesday, April 5th in his home. Dave was born on August 23rd, 1957, at the Stouder Memorial Hospital in Troy, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis [Edward] Ziegler and Thelma [Rea] (Ardinger) Ziegler of Troy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Carneen (Mills) Ziegler whom he married on August 15, 1998, and his three children; twins, son David James Edward Ziegler and daughter Tayla Evelyn Rea Ziegler and son Brennin Richard Ziegler; His sister Kristy Fickert and her husband Chris of Springfield; brother Donald L. Kitchen Jr as well as his cousin Tony Kendall. Dave had many friends and was well known and loved by his Troy community.
Dave was a graduate from Troy High School in 1975. He was employed by Hartzell Propeller of Piqua and was proud to be a part of their team for 45 years. He is a member of the Miami County Amateur Radio Club, Dayton Amateur Radio Association, and ARES/RACES where he assisted community events for emergency services. He was also the chair of the Special Events Stations for the Dayton Hamvention.
Highly intelligent and technical, Dave had a quick wit and kind sense of humor. He was a strong, positive, kind and loving person who was fearless of adversity or pain. He was an animal lover and wouldn’t hesitate to rescue any abandoned cats even if it meant he’d have to pick them up right off the side of the highway. He was a tremendous help in any emergency and was the life of every gathering. He enjoyed being with his family most of all.
Dave was also a survivor of cancer. Thanks to the OSU Oncology Center and his Doctor, David Carbone. He was able to survive stage 4 lung cancer. Despite his remission ending and having to go through treatment for multiple myeloma, he remained strong and beat every expectation.
Dave will be buried in a private ceremony in Riverside Cemetery in Troy.
A celebration of life for his family, friends and community will be held at the Hartzell Propeller Ostrich Farm at 5255 OH-185, Piqua, OH 45356 on April 20th from 5-7pm.
