Betty Jean Newnam

Betty Jean Newnam, age 93 of Troy, passed away at 11:30 PM on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at SpringMeade Health Center in Tipp City, OH. She was born on April 11, 1928 in Troy to the late Ralph F. and Mildred (Weaver) Brown.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband Harold William Newnam, who passed away January 11, 2017; and two brothers, Don and Ralph Brown.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory include her sons, Wayne (Terri) Newnam of Troy and David (Janet) Newnam of Troy; daughter, Lois Russell of Troy; grandchildren, Tiffany (Dave) Phillips, Leah (Josh) Fredrick, Chelsea (Mike) Puin, Alison (Andrew) Bailey, Haley (Nate) Copen, Scott (Danielle) Russell, Sheldon Russell, and Sarah (Todd) Osborn; 14 great grandchildren; and sister, Shirley (Don) Wood of Urbana, OH.

Betty graduated from Milton-Union High School in 1946 and later on went to work as a cook for many years at the   former Stouder Hospital, Troy where she retired in 1990. She loved to cook and spend time with her family and her church family. Betty was a member of Troy View Church of God for over 60 years.

A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 AM to 12 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 12 PM on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Dan Cain officiating. Interment will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
