Thomas Jeffery “Thom” Ashworth

Thomas Jeffery “Thom” Ashworth, age 61 of Troy, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at SpringMeade Health Center, Tipp City. He was born August 26, 1958 in Huntington, WV to the late Edward Milton Ashworth, Sr. and Ruth Anna (Hager) Ashworth.

Thom is survived by his wife Lilah (Gessner) Ashworth, who he married November 16, 1985; three children: Levi Ashworth (Destiny Greentaner) of Potsdam, Tesa Gessner of West Milton, and Josh Ashworth (Kayla White) of Casstown; nine grandchildren: Adrienne, Becca, Landon, Javin, Xavier, Kalista, Layla, Zayla, and Avery; brother Edward Milton “Ed” Ashworth, Jr. (Rosa) of Troy; nieces Scarlet Ashworth and Amber McKenzie, and great-nephew Hugh McKenzie.

Thom was a US Marine Corps veteran and a member of Cove Springs Church in Troy. He was a 1976 graduate of Troy High School and attended Edison State Community College. Thom loved spending time with his grandchildren and also enjoyed crochet, woodworking, shooting. He was a Scout leader for Boy Scouts Troop #544. He was previously employed with ITW (Hobart Corp.) for 39 years.

A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Friday, October 11, 2019 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Greg Morrow officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy with military honors by the Veteran’s Memorial Honor Guard of Troy.
