Velma C. Fudge, age 95 of Kettering, formerly of Troy, passed away February 11, 2017 at Suites of Walnut Creek Assisted Living, Moraine. She was born June 19, 1921 in Bradford to the late Ora and Lulu (Shimp) Grise.

Velma is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law: Kim Fudge of Chicago, IL, and Kelvin and Teresa Fudge of Springboro; daughter and son-in-law: Kristin and Peter Castiglione of Tempe, AZ; eight grandchildren: Kelli (Daniel) Zetzl, Kerri (Matt) Poppalardo, Matthew (Jin) Castiglione, Sara Castiglione, Maia Castiglione, Jenna Castiglione, Lindsey Fudge, and Keith Fudge; five great-grandchildren: Adelyn, Zoe, Lori, Leo, and Emma.

Velma was married to Rupert Keith Fudge, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1979. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Doyle, Dewane, and Chalmer; and daughter-in-law Linda Fudge.

She was a 1939 graduate of Bradford High School, and was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Troy. Family was the main focus of her life. She loved nothing more than being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She crafted numerous items that were shared with her family, friends, and many others. Her creations included everything from afghans and quilts, to Christmas ornaments, dolls, clothing, pillows, and may other memorable items. She even participated in a group that built a doll house on display at Hayner House. She was a volunteer at Stouder Hospital for a number of years. Velma will always be remembered for her huge heart, and kind and sharing spirit. Her love of family and friends and enthusiasm for life are what we will hold close to our hearts. We will miss her dearly every day for the rest of our lives.

A funeral service will be held 11AM Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Tyler Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 10AM-11AM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton: 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
