Gladys R. Thompson, age 88 of Sidney, formerly of Troy, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Ohio Living Dorothy Love Retirement Facility, Sidney. She was born September 6, 1928 in Williamson, WV to the late Ernest B. and Tennessee (Dotson) Stissell.

Gladys is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia J. Dohm of Troy, Shirley and Jeff Feierstein of Troy, Jackie and Dale Razevich of Troy, and Toni Ann and Joe Hutchinson of Troy; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

She married James F. Thompson on November 2, 1946 and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2011. She was also preceded in death by daughter Mary S. Sharp and sister Sadie Farmer.

Gladys was a former member of VFW Auxiliary #5436, Troy, and was a member of the Charlie Creek Baptist Church, Zolfo Springs, FL. She was a Telephone Operator for Troy-Tipp Telephone Co., PBX Operator for General Telephone for 10 years, and was a Switchboard Operator at Good Samaritan Hospital. She retired from the former Dettmer Hospital, Troy.

A funeral service will be held 12PM Friday, February 17, 2017 at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Gene Phelps officiating. Visitation will be from 10AM-12PM at the funeral home prior to service. Interment will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Living Dorothy Love: 3003 West Cisco Road, Sidney, OH 45365. Arrangements entrusted to Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy.
